Adams love of martial arts began at a young age after discovering Bruce Lee films. He started with traditional martial arts in Kenpo Karate until he received his brown belt. This provided basic principles that translated into his love for kickboxing and Muay Thai. He was fortunate enough to learn the art of 8- limbs under ISKA world champion Greg Lamothe at Martial Arts Unlimited. He fought under his banner on multiple occasions in both kickboxing and MMA. In 2014, He moved from my home town of Victoria to pursue an education in Kinesiology at UBC. Learning fundamental anatomy and physiological processes of the human body has proven to be very helpful when instructing kickboxing movements for all skill levels. Focusing on proper technique while still providing a high pace workout is his main goal for our members. Karen is an energetic Fitness Instructor Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer with many years of experience. Her journey in the fitness industry began as a participant in step classes, then on to teach spin and LesMills programs. Karen has continued her education to become a Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED Master Trainer and STRONG by Zumba Instructor. Her passion to help people of all levels get involved in fitness, shows in her teaching/coaching style. She loves to push her participants to reach their fitness goals while working in a safe, enjoyable environment. Jeanette was born and raised a prairie girl. She grew up in the Fitness industry in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She started off as 6am morning reception, to a club manager of 8 locations. Her dream had always been, to open a studio of her own. A studio where there is no heavy sales metrics or corporate bs. Just a solid foundation and a solid team. Jeanette has created a family brand that encompasses her passion for fitness and leadership, but also her love of helping and growing with the community. Junior has experience with group boxing classes, after school programs at local elementary schools, and small group sessions. Coach Karim comes to us from Paris France and has lived in BC for the last 7 years. He specializes in the art of Muay Thai. Muay Thai utilizes the 8-point striking system (punches, kicks, knees, elbows) and the full chinch. Coach Karim started at the very young age of 17. Coach Mark has joined us from London, England. He specialises in movement, mobility and balance. With a degree in sports science, he has great knowledge of the human body. Coach Mark has worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years and has trained the likes of Shawn Mendez (ummm yes. Amazing) . He comes from a sporting background of gymnastics, basketball and soccer. He is sure to help you accomplish your goals, and push you every time you need it. He loves nutrition, and believes in a healthy mind, body and soul. “The mind is an amazing thing, it can trick you and make you fear anything. My fitness journey began on a backpacking trip to South East Asia. Once there, I fell in love with travel and immediately connected with Thailand’s national sport of Muay Thai (Kickboxing). I since have returned to Asia to explore, train and compete in various Muay Thai camps around the country. This experience drew me to fitness, ultimately becoming a certified personal trainer, Muay Thai/boxing Instructor and strength & conditioning coach for high-performance athletes. My approach to fitness is based on functionality. I guide my clients to excel in their day-to-day lives by helping them set and achieve attainable goals while increasing, strength, speed, mobility, agility and balance. Whether you’re an elite athlete, an energetic 8-year-old, or just looking to shed some weight and try something new, you can expect a challenging and fun workout.
Taryn is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, growing up in Whistler/ Vancouver, BC. Hiking mountains in the summer and skiing down them in the winter, the outdoors is her playground. Taryn is an ex-rhythmic gymnast who competed professionally for over 10 years. With her creative work outs and fun energy she will be sure to have you sweating!
Brought to you from the sandy shores of Perth, Australia, Shelby is a fiery trainer who is inspired by movement. Shelby’s passion lies in functional training and dance. Her background includes instructing Les Mills and The Jungle Body classes and a degree in occupational therapy. Shelby is motivated to help you feel amazing through unique ways of moving while focusing on form, practicality and a bomb playlist! Tip: drop an old school Simpsons reference to instantly become her new friend ;)
Bernie always had a great passion for fitness at a early age. He has tried his hand at every sport he came across but never seem to find the right fit until he found Martial arts, at 17 years old he began training under Karim Chadli for Muay thai and Gari Cortez for Brazilian Jiujitsu out of a gym in Surrey called Triunity. Bernie originally started training to stay fit but quickly picked up on the sport and started competing at local tournaments, one thing lead to another and he is now teaching kickboxing here at Marvill and pursuing a career in Mixed Martial Arts. Bernie will not only help you with perfecting your techniques but also find him training along side you as he is a regular in the Marvill classes.
